Abstract: A process for recovering aluminum from alunite ore directed to providing a residue for the Bayer leach step substantially free of impurities so that a high A/C ratio Bayer leach liquor is produced, which comprises roasting the ore in particulate form to drive off water and sulfur as SO.sub.2 and to convert aluminum sulfate to …
The prospects for increased bauxite production in Central Asia is reviewed in the light of recent geologic findings. Characteristic features of the bauxites and other aluminum mineral deposits (alunite, diaspore, etc. ) are reviewed, and recommendations made for further exploration and prospecting.
High concentration of the precipitant agent promotes the formation of ammonium alunite, which was confirmed by XRD, TG/DTG and FTIR analysis. The ammonium alunite has less sulfate ions and more water than the BAS, and so, the ammonium alunite heat treated up to 1200°C produces 28 weight percent of Al2O3.
This thesis briefly reviews attempts to produce alumina from non-bauxitic sources, other than alunite, pointing out their particular economic shortcomings. It then …
The content of alunite in copper tailings covering a lot of lands was about 11.87% (Chen et al., 2014). The tailings, containing a mass of alunite, was dumped on the arable lands and hillsides directly and have caused environment pollution (Shen et al., 2011, Wang et al., 2013). Alunite is a kind of sulfate salt containing potassium and …

alunite is hydrometallurgical methods including calcination and leaching. Because the main gangue of alunite is quartz (around 40%), these methods lead to the formation of sodium aluminosilicate and potassium aluminosilicate complexes. These complexes cause losing alumina and leaching agents during the process.

The APS minerals contain more than 40 mineral species (Jambor, 1999).Their attribution to various groups and their naming is still under debate as it is the case with the type of nomenclature scheme Strunz and Tennyson, 1982, Scott, 1987a, Jambor, 1999.Such mineralogical classification schemes in their attempt to …
Aluminium phosphates and sulphates of the alunite supergroup (APS minerals) occur in a wide range of environments of formation covering the metamorphic, igneous and sedimentary realms. Supergene processes, including mineral dressing and dumping when sulphide ores are mined, as well as hypogene alteration are also …
In this study, dehydroxylation of alunite was studied. On the basis of thermogravimetric results and sulfur loss, dehydroxylation of alunite occurs from 508 to 577 °C. In this temperature range, temperature and time, as well as their interaction, have the greatest effect on alunite conversion (dehydroxylation) with 99.85% contribution, while …
Alunite, a potassium alum, was activated mechanically in a planetary ball mill, and the effects of mechanical activation on the structure of alunite have been studied by particle size analysis ...
The thermal decomposition of Şaphane alunite from Kütahya, Turkey, has been studied using ambient- and high-temperature X-ray diffraction analysis, differential thermal analysis, and thermogravimetric analysis. The alunite content in the ore was about 47.5%. The first endothermic peak at about 545 °C is due to the dehydration of the …
